How to deal with water leaks around attic skylights?
1. If there is water leakage around the skylight of the attic, then we try to take certain measures to speed up the flow rate of rainwater on the outer frame of the window, so as to avoid the accumulation of water with a high probability, and then install a sealing strip at the gap. If you just add screws and punch hard, there will be a large gap between the aluminum alloy and the screw hole, which is more likely to cause water leakage around the attic skylight. Therefore, it is best to use styrofoam when installing attic skylights, which will not leak water and air, but also soundproof.
2. If there is water leakage at the junction of the skylight and the wall, then we can only work hard at the joint gap. After the skylight has been installed, there should be no way to re-fill the styrofoam. Then we can make obvious water leakage. Use a leak repair agent or waterproof paint several times, and the relatively small leaks can be walked along the gap with 502 glue several times, and the water leakage can basically be alleviated.
3. If the skylight itself is not waterproof, it can only be reworked and reinstalled to make it waterproof. In fact, additional waterproof paint can be used for post-remediation, but there is no way to cure it, and there will be water leakage after a while.
